Alice Chen is a senior legal practitioner with over two decades of experience advising clients across a broad spectrum of legal areas, with a particular focus on wills, estates, and succession law. She joined CS Lawyers as Special Counsel in April 2025, bringing a unique blend of private practice expertise and executive in-house leadership.
Alice began her legal career at TK Legal (incorporating Robert Yip & Co.), a respected boutique law firm in Sydney’s Haymarket. Promoted to Associate in 2004, she built a strong reputation advising on commercial leasing, business sales and acquisitions, property transactions, wills and estate planning, and litigation. Her dispute resolution work spanned NCAT, and the Local, District, Supreme, Federal and High Courts, involving matters such as lease disputes, debt recovery, contracts, construction, defamation, taxation, and professional negligence. Her broad experience positioned her as a trusted advisor across both transactional and contentious matters, known for her strategic thinking and solutions-focused approach.
In 2014, Alice transitioned into a senior executive role with Australia and New Zealand’s largest B2B automotive glass distribution group. As Chief Operating Officer, she was responsible for the overall operations of the business while also leading its legal function. In addition to her strategic and operational leadership, she oversaw legal and regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, employment matters, WHS, governance, and asset acquisitions and management. She played a pivotal role in multiple corporate restructures and led major mergers and acquisitions in New Zealand, which helped position the group as a market leader in that region. Alice also advised on complex business succession planning, collaborating with external tax and legal advisors to deliver high-value strategic projects.
Alice is known for her commercial insight, attention to detail, and clear, confident communication. A persuasive communicator with strong interpersonal skills, she is widely regarded as the “go-to” advisor by clients and colleagues alike. Her practical, solutions-driven approach and extensive leadership experience allow her to provide legal advice that is both commercially strategic and grounded in real-world execution.
Alice holds a Master of Laws (Corporate, Commercial & Taxation Law) from UNSW, as well as combined undergraduate degrees in Law and Commerce. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
